Safety Guidelines
Proper handling and application of agricultural chemicals protects you, your crops, and the environment.
Personal Protective Equipment
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when handling, mixing, or applying any agricultural chemical product. Minimum PPE requirements include:
Chemical-resistant gloves
Nitrile or neoprene during all operations
Protective Clothing
Long-sleeved shirt and long pants of tightly woven fabric
Chemical-resistant apron
When mixing concentrates or handling large volumes
Eye Protection
Safety goggles or face shield during mixing and filling
Respiratory Protection
Respirator with appropriate filters for enclosed spaces
Protective Footwear
Chemical-resistant boots to protect from spills
Head Protection
Wide-brimmed hat during field applications
Important: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and wash separately from household laundry. Never reuse contaminated PPE without thorough cleaning.
Handling & Storage
Before Use
- Read the entire product label first
- Verify correct product for target
- Check weather conditions (wind <15 km/h)
- Ensure equipment is calibrated
- Notify nearby residents
During Mixing
- Mix in well-ventilated areas
- Follow label order for adding products
- Use dedicated measuring containers
- Avoid breathing dust/vapors
- Stand upwind when pouring
- Triple-rinse empty containers
Storage
- Store in locked, dedicated facility
- Keep cool, dry, and ventilated
- Separate from food and feed
- Separate herbicides from others
- Install spill containment
- Post warning signs
Application Safety
Proper Technique
- Apply only at rates and timings specified on labels
- Calibrate spray equipment before each application
- Maintain 5-100m buffer zones from water/residential areas
- Optimal conditions: 10-25°C, wind <10 km/h
Worker Safety
- Observe Restricted Entry Intervals (REI) (12-48h)
- Post treated fields with warning signs
- Provide information on exposure symptoms
- Strictly follow Pre-harvest Intervals (PHI)
Product Precautions
Insecticides
Cantuccini, Krunu Edge, Stark Nebula
Toxic to bees & aquatic life. Do not apply during bloom. Time for early morning/late evening.
Herbicides
Optimax, D-Fence, Blazer, Flash Plus
Flash Plus is highly toxic. D-Fence volatile >27°C. Clean equipment thoroughly after use.
Fungicides
Aelita Neo, Estrella Shine, Medallion Black
Rotate modes of action to prevent resistance. Wear gloves for sensitization risks.
Acaricides
Principa Cuore
Target vulnerable life stages. Select products to preserve predatory mites.
Environmental Protection
Responsible use protects ecosystems and water resources.
Water Protection
Never mix near wells or water bodies. Maintain buffer zones.
Pollinators
Avoid bloom periods. Maintain habitat strips.
Drift Reduction
Use drift-reduction nozzles and correct boom height.
Soil Health
Follow rates to prevent accumulation. Add organic matter.
Emergency Response
In Case of Exposure
Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with soap/water 15-20 min.
Flush with water 15-20 min. Remove contacts. Seek medical help.
Fresh air immediately. Oxygen if difficulty breathing.
Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Seek immediate help.
Spills & Leaks
- Contain with absorbent materials
- Prevent entry to drains/water
- Collect in labeled waste containers
- Report significant spills (>10L)
First Aid Information
Keep emergency numbers available: Local services, Poison Control, Manufacturer Support.
Symptoms: Headache, dizziness, nausea, excessive salivation, difficulty breathing, blurred vision, muscle twitching.
Disposal
Container Management
- Triple-rinse empty containers and add rinsate to tank
- Puncture or crush to prevent reuse
- Never burn or bury containers
- Participate in recycling programs
Training & Records
Applicator Training
Ensure all personnel are trained on safe use, PPE, and emergency procedures. Maintain certifications and conduct annual refreshers.
Record Keeping
Maintain records for 3 years: Product name, date, weather, crop treated, rate, applicator name, and REIs.
Compliance
"Always comply with national and local regulations. The label is a legal document and supersedes any other recommendations."
"Safety is everyone's responsibility. When in doubt, always consult the product label or safety data sheet."
